URL-parameter loads (`/skewt?q=…`) were blocking the initial mount
on three serial steps: geocoder/grid resolve, ProfilesFile or
HrrrProfileLookup read, and the SkewtParams/SoundingParams/SkewtSvg
derivation. The address path in particular hits an external API,
which made the page take "forever" to load on first paint.
Restructure SkewtLive so the page chrome (header, search bar) renders
synchronously on mount, and the heavy work runs in a single
`start_async(:load_skewt, …)` task that calls SkewtLocationResolver,
walks the on-disk profile store with a DB fallback, and produces the
SVG. A new `loading?` assign drives a small spinner + "Resolving
location and loading HRRR profile…" message that shows while the task
is in flight; previous data stays on screen so navigation between
forecast hours doesn't blank out the diagram.
handle_async/3 covers three landings:
* `{:ok, {:ok, result}}` — apply assigns from the resolver
* `{:ok, {:error, reason}}` — surface as the existing error alert
(geocoder failure, unknown callsign, etc.)
* `{:exit, reason}` — log a warning and show a generic retry message
start_async/3 cancels any prior task with the same name on each call,
so a rapid-fire URL patch (e.g. clicking through forecast-hour
buttons before the first response returns) never lands stale data.
Tests: extended SkewtLiveTest from 3 to 4 cases — the URL-param
initial render now asserts the chrome + spinner appear pre-async,
and a separate case `render_async/2`s the view to confirm the
location label arrives once the task completes. 4/4 green.
Single search bar accepts an address, Maidenhead grid square, or
callsign; resolves it to lat/lon via Geocoder / Maidenhead /
CallsignLocation (cheapest classification first), snaps to the HRRR
grid via the existing ProfilesFile reader, and renders an SVG
Skew-T-Log-P with isobars, skewed isotherms, dry/moist adiabats, and
mixing-ratio lines. A button row picks between every available
forecast hour (now → f18); default is the most recent analysis.
Right pane lists derived stability and refractivity stats from
SoundingParams.derive (PWAT, BL depth, K-index, lifted index, min
dN/dh, ducting status + per-duct base/top/ΔM).
Renderer is server-side SVG so the page works without JS and serializes
into the LiveView payload as a single tag. Wind barbs are deliberately
omitted — HRRR's persisted profile carries wind only at 10 m AGL.
`handle_event("switch_tab", ...)` ran `String.to_existing_atom/1` on
the raw `tab` value from the browser, so a stale, forged, or
mistyped client event with any unknown string crashed the LiveView
with `ArgumentError: not an already existing atom`.
Compares against an explicit `@valid_tabs` allowlist (`:single`,
`:csv`, `:adif`) — known values switch the active tab, anything
else is ignored.
Bandit's dual-stack listener delivers IPv4 connections to the app as
IPv4-mapped IPv6 tuples (`::ffff:a.b.c.d`). The trust check compared
that 128-bit form against our IPv4 trusted_proxies CIDRs and never
matched, so cf-connecting-ip was ignored on every cloudflared-relayed
request — every visitor logged as the cloudflared sidecar pod IP
(rendered as `0:0:0:0:0:65535:2804:101` etc.).
Collapses the mapped tuple to plain IPv4 before the trust check and
records it that way on the conn, so logs and session storage see the
real client IP that Cloudflare set in cf-connecting-ip.
Adds a `layer` query parameter to `/weather`. Loading
`/weather?layer=temp_700mb` boots straight into that overlay; clicking
a different layer pill push_patches the URL so the active selection is
shareable and survives a refresh. Unknown layer ids fall back to the
default (temperature) instead of crashing.
- Bump render_async/2 timeout to 2_000ms across contact_live_test.
Default 100ms races when the suite runs on a loaded box — ContactLive.
Show fans out 8 hydration tasks at mount and sporadically missed the
window even on a quiet DB.
- Telemetry metrics-shape assertion uses Enum.any?/1 instead of the
`metrics != []` comparison Elixir 1.19's type system flags as a
distinct-type comparison (the function's non-empty return type).
Passes `capture_log: true` to ExUnit.start/1 so log output emitted
during a passing test stays in the per-test capture buffer instead of
stdout. Drops ~360 lines of noise from the suite: Postgrex teardown
disconnects, expected worker failures, NexradClient 404 stubs,
NotifyListener warm-skip messages, SNMP poll failures, PromEx tag-
drop warnings, and OTel-handler boot errors. Failing tests still
surface their full logs on report, so debugging is unchanged.
Side-effect fixes:
- LoggerFormatTest opts out via @moduletag capture_log: false — it
patches the :default :logger handler and capture_log hot-swaps the
same handler, so the setup lookup would 404.
- TelemetryTest.start_link/1 unlinks the supervisor before the brutal
kill so the exit signal doesn't propagate to the test process.
- Drop unused `import Ecto.Query` in a top_hours mix-task test.
- Drop unused default-arg `attrs \\ %{}` on create_contact/1 in
contact_map_live_test (every caller passes attrs explicitly).
Remaining noise is ~3 lines from oban_pro vendored-dep @impl warnings
(require an upstream patch) plus rare intermittent async teardowns.
Adds 30 more test cases (2594 → 2624 tests) targeting the last
low-coverage hot spots.
Notable additions:
- ContactLive.Show fully-hydrated render path (seeds HrrrProfile,
TerrainProfile, ContactCommonVolumeRadar, Sounding, SurfaceObservation,
IemreObservation) exercises refresh_computed, build_propagation_analysis,
build_data_sources, compute_elevation_profile, and the downstream
render branches they unlock.
- handle_info :terrain_ready and :sounding_fetched paths for same-contact
and unrelated-contact dispatch.
- Flagged-invalid badge + line-through header style.
- Owner-label button path (Edit vs Suggest Edit).
- NotifyListener init/1 subscribes on schedule; handle_info(:subscribe)
succeeds against the live Repo.
- RecalibrateScorer runs cleanly against an empty corpus via the
Recalibrator insufficient-data fallback.
- HrrrNativeClient.extract_native_profiles/2 tolerates malformed input
without crashing.

RadarBackfill, ImportContestLogs, PropagationGrid,
ResetEnrichment, Hrrr.PurgeGridPoints) 0 → ~60-100%
Two incidental fixes made while adding tests:
- ContactLive.Show.handle_event("toggle_flag", ...) was passing
socket.assigns.current_scope to admin?/1 instead of socket.assigns,
so admins never matched the pattern and every toggle ran the
"Admins only." flash branch. Flag now toggles for admins again.
- Commercial.PollWorker.fetch_weather/1 promoted from private to
@doc'd public so the IEM-fetch + ASOS-upsert path can be tested
directly without driving perform/1 through live SNMP (which was
timing out for ~50 s per test in the earlier attempt).
Stable property-test additions cover the dewpoint-from-RH monotonicity,
nearest_run/1 idempotence, and the ionosphere station envelope.
Replaces the SVG schematic on /eme with a textured WebGL scene: NASA
Blue Marble Earth, real-size Moon, outbound beam, dashed return ray
to the sub-lunar point, and a red shading on the anti-moon hemisphere
that marks who can't see the Moon (outside the bounce footprint).
Three.js (~680 kB) now lives in its own chunk; esbuild --splitting
keeps it out of the main bundle so it only loads when a user hits
/eme. Main app.js drops from 1.6 MB to 922 kB.
Also swaps the Elevation/SNR rows so the badge comes before the number.
New /eme page — antenna aiming + link budget for moonbounce.
Given a station (callsign / grid / lat,lon), TX power, antenna gain,
detection bandwidth, and system Tsys, the page shows in real time:
- Moon azimuth / elevation from the observer (ticks every 10 s)
- Slant range to the Moon
- EIRP breakdown: TX(dBm) + gain(dBi) = EIRP(dBm)
- Path-loss decomposition (Earth → Moon → Earth):
free-space spreading (×2)

- Band-dependent lunar albedo ρ (VHF ≈ 0.065, microwave ≈ 0.08,

- Self-echo Doppler shift with its radial-velocity driver
New modules:
- `Microwaveprop.Moon` — low-precision lunar ephemeris
(Astronomical Almanac Sec. D.4 truncated series). Provides
`julian_day/1`, `geocentric/1`, `observer_position/3`, and
`radial_velocity_km_s/3`. Accurate to ~0.3° position / ~200 km
distance — well inside any amateur EME-dish beamwidth.
- `Microwaveprop.Propagation.Eme` — path-loss helpers:
`moon_albedo/1` (band lookup), `moon_rcs_m2/1`,
`fspl_round_trip_db/2`, `moon_reflection_gain_db/2`,
`path_loss_db/3`, `received_power_dbm/1`, `noise_floor_dbm/2`,
`snr_db/1`, `doppler_shift_hz/2`.
Wired into the main nav ("EME" button) and the router between
/path and /rover.
Tests: 3 properties + 41 unit tests cover JD conversion, moon
position envelope, band-dependent albedo lookup, decomposition
identity, linearity/monotonicity of path loss and Doppler, and a
LiveView integration test against the rendered DOM.
Full suite: 2,460 tests + 170 properties; credo strict clean.
- PageController: cover the legacy `/qsos` → `/contacts` redirect pair
(both the index and the id-preserving per-resource redirect), which
had no coverage since the route rename.
- Scorer property tests:
- f_to_c / c_to_f are inverses up to float epsilon, both propagate
nil, and the C→F slope is exactly 5/9.
- wind_speed_kts is non-negative, propagates nil on either axis,
and matches sqrt(u²+v²)·1.94384 (the 5-digit kts factor the
scorer uses).
- precip_to_rate_mmhr is non-negative, 0 for nil/zero/negative.
- dbz_to_rain_rate_mmhr is 0 below 5 dBZ (and for nil), and
monotonically non-decreasing above — guards against accidental
inversion of the Marshall-Palmer lookup.
Suite: 2,382 tests + 155 properties (was 2,380 + 148); coverage
71.08% → 71.12%; credo strict clean.
Changes under lib/ (source):
- iemre_fetch_worker: replace `if transient_failure?/1` boolean predicate
+ `if/else` with a classifier that pattern-matches the error reason
directly, returning `:transient | :permanent`, and dispatch via
`case`. Three-clause head is clearer than the boolean predicate.
- scores_file.extract_points and nexrad_client.extract_box: force `//1`
step on the row/col comprehensions so an image box whose centre
lands outside the raster collapses to an empty iteration instead
of firing Elixir 1.19's ambiguous-range warning. Adds a regression
test for the right-edge box.
Test coverage added:
- Feature wrappers in Backtest.Features (theta_e_jump, shear_at_top,
duct_thickness, best_duct_freq, duct_usable_for_band,
distance_to_front / parallel_to_front stubs, all_features/0).
- NotifyListener handle_info tolerance for malformed payloads +
unknown messages, plus the PubSub broadcast side effect.
- Viewshed.effective_reach_km across every verdict / diffraction
tier / ducting-score tier combination.
- SnmpClient parse_af60_output unit conversions + unknown-column
handling; parse_snmpget_output OID normalisation and junk-line
tolerance.
- HrrrNativeClient native_level_count, native_variables,
native_messages shape, duct_messages / duct_byte_ranges.
- Changeset coverage for GeomagneticObservation, SolarFluxObservation,
SolarXrayObservation, Ionosphere.Observation, HrrrClimatology, and
Metar5minObservation — lifted each from ~50% / 0% to 100%.
- Property tests: GefsClient.dewpoint_from_rh invariants (Td ≤ T,
monotonic in RH, finite across the operating envelope) + idempotent
nearest_run. NexradClient.pixel_to_dbz monotonicity + bounded
output; latlon_to_pixel round-trip for every grid cell.
Also cleared several unrelated compiler/linter warnings:
- Three private test helpers (create_contact, insert_contact,
current_hour) had `\\ %{}` / `\\ 0` defaults that no caller used.
- profiles_file_test bound `dir` in a pattern match without using it.
Suite: 2,359 tests + 146 properties pass (was 2,300 / 139); coverage
70.38% → 70.89%; credo strict clean.
Operators want a place to jot observations that aren't captured by
the structured fields — weather anecdotes, propagation mode
commentary, equipment details, band conditions. Add a text column
on contacts plus the two ingest paths users submit through:
* /submit single-contact form gets a 3-row textarea under the
other fields. Optional, max 2000 chars, with a live length cap
via maxlength. Whitespace-only input collapses to NULL so the
column reflects "no notes" rather than an empty string.
* CSV importer recognises a `notes` (or `note`) column via the
existing header_aliases table and flows values straight through
submission_changeset. Sample template gets a matching example
row with embedded commas so the quoted-field round-trip is
exercised on download.
ADIF import and the refinement/refinement-notify paths are out of
scope — users specifically asked for CSV + single-contact. Tests
cover the changeset (accept/blank/over-length), CSV header parsing
(plain + RFC-4180 quoted), and LiveView form submit end-to-end.
The log_level(%{method: \"HEAD\"}) clause never matched because
Plug.Head rewrites the method to \"GET\" before Plug.Telemetry's
register_before_send callback fires, so by log time conn.method is
\"GET\". Stash the original method in private before Plug.Head runs
and key the filter off it.
**Wire format — /map scores payload.** Every `update_scores` /
`preload_forecast` / `data-scores` embed previously shipped each
point as `{"lat":X,"lon":Y,"score":Z}`. At 95k cells in full CONUS
that's ~36 bytes/point × 95k = 3.4 MB of JSON, ~50% of it repeating
the three key names. Packing as `[lat, lon, score]` tuples drops
per-point overhead to ~19 bytes → ~1.8 MB on the wire, ~45% smaller.
New `Propagation.pack_scores/1` is used at every push_event +
initial_scores_json boundary; internal Elixir still uses the
`%{lat, lon, score}` map so no other callers change.
JS hook: `ScorePoint` becomes `[number, number, number]`, the
`renderScores` loop destructures to positional args. Regression
test in map_live_test updated to match the new shape.
**ProfilesFile compression.** Rust writer was at gzip level 6
(default). Files are write-once-per-forecast-hour but read by
every pod mount + point_detail click. Bumped to level 9 (best):
~30% slower encode (hidden by spawn_blocking — not on user path),
~5–10% smaller on semi-structured MessagePack bodies. No reader
changes needed — same gzip stream.
**TypeScript strictness.**
- `app.ts`: replace `({detail}: any)` on phx:live_reload:attached
with a CustomEvent<Reloader> shape naming only the API we touch.
- `weather_map_hook.ts`: drop the `(this as any)._map` pair by
declaring a `GridLayerWithMap = L.GridLayer & { _map: L.Map }`
intersection on the overlay's createTile `this` parameter.
- `global.d.ts`: replace `liveSocket: any` / `liveReloader: any`
with focused LiveSocketLike / LiveReloaderLike shapes that name
only the devtools-visible API.
No more `any` in the codebase (verified via rg).
- Add one-line moduledocs to 18 LiveViews that were carrying
@moduledoc false. Each line names the route and summarizes what
the page does so a future reader knows where to look before
opening the file.
- Add MapLive handle_event tests for toggle_radar, select_time /
set_selected_time, point_detail, map_bounds, retry_initial_scores.
Assertions focus on socket-state transitions and "didn't crash"
rather than raw HTML — map_bounds in particular has no visible
render-side effect (it push_events the new scores to the JS hook).
- Rust pipeline: integration-shaped test that hand-builds a 2-cell
surface + pressure grid, runs merge → cell_to_conditions →
precompute_band_invariants → composite_score_with → write_atomic
→ decode, asserting header + body length round-trip. Closes the
'pipeline's happy path is only covered by unit tests' gap.
/live fires every 10s per pod; the request line and Sent 200 response
from Plug.Telemetry drowned out real requests. log_level/1 now returns
false for /live too, same treatment /health already got.
Investigated why all three prop pods were restart-looping every few
minutes (RESTARTS counts 7–11 in 99m). The trail:
20:53:33.058 [error] Postgrex.Protocol ("db_conn_10") disconnected:
client (:"Elixir.Microwaveprop.PromEx.Poller.5000") timed out
because it queued and checked out the connection for longer than
15000ms
PromEx's Oban queue-depth poller was scanning the oban_jobs table
every 5s and holding an Ecto connection past its checkout timeout.
That starved the rest of the pool, so /health's `SELECT 1` couldn't
acquire a connection inside the 3s liveness probe timeout, the
kubelet's failureThreshold=3 tripped, and SIGKILL landed on the
BEAM. Every replica cycled on the same cadence.
Two fixes:
1. Split /live (no DB) from /health (DB ping). Kubernetes livenessProbe
now points at /live so a saturated Ecto pool can never cascade into
SIGKILL. Readiness still hits /health so a genuine DB outage drains
the pod from Service endpoints gracefully.
2. Turn off the PromEx Oban plugin in prod via the same flag already
used in test. The queue-depth query isn't worth pod instability;
the oban_web dashboard surfaces the same information without
scanning the job table on a timer.
Locked both down with HealthController tests that verify /live never
touches the Repo (no sandbox owner, controller.live/2 called directly,
200 ok) and /health does (sanity query round-trips).
Two fixes cover the blank "analysis breakdown" panel the user reported:
1. Bound the point_detail fallback lookback to 24h. Previously
factors_from_fallback_profile would happily use a week-old analysis
profile when no current one existed — now anything older than 24h
returns an empty factor map so the UI can surface "breakdown
unavailable" instead of silently misattributing.
2. Move the Plausible analytics snippet from Layouts.app into
root.html.heex. Full-bleed LiveViews (/map, /contacts/map,
/weather, home) bypass Layouts.app, so the snippet only loaded on
the navbar-wrapped pages. root.html.heex is loaded once per HTTP
document so coverage is now universal.
Added ~30 tests locking both down:
• point_detail fallback: exact-time wins, 24h boundary accepted,
30h-stale rejected, multi-band coverage, missing-cell degrades to
empty factors, default-valid_time path
• analytics_test.exs: Plausible script present on 12 representative
pages, exactly once, loaded async, surviving a login round-trip
Also fixed pre-existing credo issues per standing rule: shortened the
map_live_test ETS match_delete call, extracted a function from the
deeply-nested hrrr_point_enqueuer.enqueue_for_contacts/1 cond, and
swapped Mix.Tasks.Rust.Golden's IO.inspect for Mix.shell().info.
Score-grid files now land at `<band>/<iso>.prop` with a 4-byte "PROP"
magic header. Readers still accept the legacy `.ntms` extension and
"NTMS" magic so a rolling deploy doesn't invalidate any file already
on the shared NFS mount — legacy files age out through normal
retention.
Applied both sides of the seam: Elixir ScoresFile + regex parsers,
Rust scores_file writer + decoder. Updated the comments in all
modules that mention the extension (NotifyListener, Reconciler,
gefs_fetch_worker, map_live) and the runbook diagram. talos5 is a
DB host now, not a Rust worker — corrected the runbook accordingly.
Two-stage mount splits the propagation map's first paint: the static
HTTP render still fetches scores synchronously so SEO/noscript shipping
gets real data baked into `data-scores`, but the websocket-connected
mount defers the potentially-slow fetch to `start_async/3`. Chrome
paints immediately; scores stream in via an `update_scores` push_event
once `handle_async(:initial_scores, ...)` resolves.
A small overlay (spinner on `:loading`, retry button on `:failed`)
uses `<.async_result>` so users can see state and recover from a
transient fetch error.
Cover the pure-math invariants of the ITU-R P.526-16 diffraction
helpers, the haversine metric on Geo, and the Magnus / dry-adiabat
helpers in the skew-T renderer. 29 properties, one invariant each.
The remote_ip plug previously trusted Cf-Connecting-Ip and X-Forwarded-For
on every request, so any client reaching a pod directly (cluster-internal,
kubectl port-forward, misconfigured Service) could spoof conn.remote_ip,
which flows into session storage and logs.
Now only honour those headers when the immediate TCP peer sits inside a
configured CIDR list. Default list covers loopback, RFC1918, CGNAT,
link-local, and IPv6 ULA — matches the k8s pod/service network.
Override via config :microwaveprop, :trusted_proxies, or per-environment
via the TRUSTED_PROXY_CIDRS env var in runtime.exs.
Also refresh the stale "nginx/dokku proxy" moduledoc — deployment has
been k8s + Cloudflare for a while.
- MapLiveTest timestamp indicator: earlier tests in the suite leave
score files in the shared `:propagation_scores_dir` and warm the 5 s
`list_valid_times` cache; clear both in setup so the "No data"
assertion sees the state the test documents.
- PropagationPruneWorkerTest: `old = now - 3h` collides with the
worker's cutoff (also `now - 3h`) once both are truncated to the
second, so they land equal when test + worker run in the same wall
clock second. Shift `old` by an extra -1s for unconditional ordering.
- ContactWeatherEnqueueWorkerTest: flip to async: false — perform/1
runs inline Oban child jobs that upsert rows with a shared conflict
target, and parallel DataCase siblings hit "ShareLock deadlock_detected"
intermittently.
- endpoint.ex log_level/1 now filters by conn.request_path instead of
conn.path_info. Plug.Router.forward/2 (deps/plug/lib/plug.ex:170)
rewrites path_info to the unmatched remainder and extends script_name
with the matched prefix before dispatching to the forwarded plug.
/metrics is routed via forward "/metrics", MetricsPlug; by the time
Plug.Telemetry's before_send callback fires inside MetricsPlug.call/2
the conn it observes has path_info: [] and script_name: ["metrics"],
so the old log_level(%{path_info: ["metrics" | _]}) clause never
matched and the default :info level fired. request_path is set by
the adapter at entry and is never rewritten, making it the correct
discriminator. New regression test in metrics_log_suppression_test.exs
captures both the direct shape and the integration path via Plug.Test.
- Scorer.dbz_to_rain_rate_mmhr/1 now uses a compile-time @mp_inv_b
constant (1 / 1.6) instead of dividing on every rain pixel.
composite_score/2's band-invariant fallback switched from four
separate short-circuits (which silently
mixed cached and freshly-computed values if only some keys were
passed) to a single Map.has_key?/2 branch that honors the "all or
none" contract. Dropped unused band_invariant_tod/1 helper.
- Propagation.replace_scores span scope tightened: the
Instrument.span([:db, :replace_scores]) now wraps only the per-band
ScoresFile.write! loop, not the upstream Enum.group_by grouping
phase. The span name + metadata stay unchanged so Grafana panels
keep working, but the fixed telemetry dispatch cost (~100µs x 2)
is no longer paid for trivially small result sets.
- Added @type t :: %__MODULE__{...} to Accounts.UserToken and
Weather.HrrrClimatology — the last two schemas that lacked one.
Elixir 1.19's set-theoretic inference benefits from every struct
having an explicit t/0 so callers can flow through tightly.
mix dialyzer --format short | grep ^lib/ | wc -l -> 0
mix test: 2165 tests, 3 pre-existing flakes, 0 new regressions.
Mirrors the Oban Job Queue Status table with a new section sourced
from the grid_tasks hand-off table. Columns: Running, Queued,
Retrying, Done (1h).
Active rows render an f## badge per in-flight forecast hour and a
detail line below with run_time / fh / attempt so it's obvious which
HRRR cycle the worker is on.
Pipes through the existing 2s debounced refresh plus a new PubSub
subscription to "propagation:updated" — PropagationNotifyListener
fans out the Rust worker's NOTIFY propagation_ready, so the panel
transitions running → done the moment Rust writes the score file.
Flagged contacts were only reachable from the contact detail page;
once the Flag column came off the /contacts index there was no
at-a-glance view of what's been flagged. Add a second table on the
admin contact-edits page (below the pending-edits table) that lists
every flagged contact newest-first with a direct View link. Hidden
entirely when nothing is flagged.
Row-level privacy was already correct: private rows only render for
the owner and admins. The header column was still showing for every
viewer, leaving an always-empty slot for anyone without private
contacts of their own. Drop `:private` from the fields list unless
the scope can actually see at least one private row.
Three UI fixes:
1. MapLive now ticks every 60s and, when the selected_time is still
the "Now" slot, advances to the newer latest-past-or-now hour as
the clock crosses into it. The URL is patched in place so shared
links stay accurate without polluting history. Manually picking a
specific past/future hour turns tracking off.
2. point_forecast/3 now reads its valid_times list straight from the
on-disk .ntms files (same source the main-map timeline uses), then
consults the cache per-hour for a fast score lookup. The old cache-
or-store branch could leave the click-to-detail sparkline at 13
hours while the bottom timeline showed 14+; both now line up.
3. Point-detail panel moves from bottom-14 → bottom-24 on desktop so
its lower edge clears the forecast-timeline bar (+ max-height tuned
to match), fixing the overlap visible in screenshots.
Every parser already returned nil on malformed input, so the ||
chains fell through to defaults — except parse_time_param, which
happily accepted any well-formed ISO8601 even if it pointed
outside the current HRRR forecast window (e.g. a stale shared
link from last week). Gate it behind the valid-times window and
fall back to the normal 'now' cursor when it's out of range.
Adds explicit coverage: non-numeric band, unknown band MHz,
non-numeric lat/lon/zoom, out-of-range values, malformed time,
ancient time, and all-params-garbage-at-once. Each case mounts
cleanly and lands on the defaults.
The main map page now reads band, selected time, and map
center/zoom from URL params and updates the URL as the user pans,
zooms, picks a band, or scrubs the timeline. Pan/zoom use
push_patch replace-mode so browser history isn't spammed, while
band and time changes push fresh entries.
Also fix the 'Up to date · just now ago' pipeline chip — 'just
now' already reads as an instant so the trailing 'ago' is
redundant. Any older duration keeps it.
- Remove the 7-day outlook strip and daily_outlook_at/3. It was
derived from point_forecast, which is capped at HRRR's 18-hour
horizon, so it never had 7 days of data to show.
- factors_for: fall back to the nearest persisted analysis profile
at or before the requested time. Only f00 hours persist profiles,
so clicking any other hour used to yield an empty Analysis and
factor table. After the recent cursor fix lands 'Now' on a
forecast hour more often, this regressed further.
- available_valid_times/1: cap the forward horizon to 18h from now.
Leftover valid_times from prior cycles used to pile on the
timeline without adding information.
Both the Elixir initial-cursor pick and the JS timeline renderer
used nearest-by-absolute-distance, so any wall-clock time past
:30 snapped the 'Now' label onto the next top-of-hour forecast —
up to ~30 min in the future. Switch to the latest valid_time at
or before wall-clock, with a fallback to the earliest time when
every slot is future (shouldn't happen for HRRR, safe default).
Contacts can be marked private at submit time (single form, CSV
import, ADIF import) and edit time. Private contacts are hidden
from the public map, the public /u/callsign profile, and the
browse table for anonymous and non-owning viewers. The original
submitter and admins see them inline on the browse table with a
"Yes" badge, and the detail page shows a lock icon. Non-authorized
viewers get a 404 on the detail page.
Adds a compact seven-card horizontal strip to both mobile and desktop
map sidebars showing the per-day peak score at the viewport center
for the selected band. Cards are color-coded (emerald for 80+,
rose for bad) so the weekend verdict reads at a glance.
- Propagation.daily_outlook_at/3: groups point_forecast entries by
UTC date, picks each day's peak, returns ascending order
- MapLive mounts with today's outlook for the initial center; the
select_band handler refreshes it from the viewport midpoint so the
strip tracks the user's current band and rough location
- Empty-state message covers the case where no extended-horizon
scores have landed yet (fresh deploy, or before the first GEFS
run completes)
This is the consumer of the GEFS pipeline — once the cron starts
running and f024-f168 scores accumulate, days 2-7 of the strip
populate automatically.
The antenna-height input only scaled the displayed range labels and
the viewshed max-range — it never fed into the propagation score
itself. Showing the control implied the colored overlay responded to
it, which was misleading. Viewshed now uses a fixed 10 m baseline,
matching the previous 33 ft default.
Antenna height now drives typical/extended/exceptional range estimates
and viewshed max range via a sqrt(h_m/10) factor clamped to [0.6, 2.0].
Baseline 33 ft matches the existing defaults. Changing the height input
now pushes update_band_info and refreshes the clicked point's detail
panel plus viewshed so the range-estimate line and coverage shape track
the user's actual station height.
The "Plot path to beacon" action now includes `tx_power_dbm` and
`src_gain_dbi` in the /path query string so the path calculator's TX
side emits the same EIRP as the beacon out of the box. The beacon
schema stores `power_mw` as EIRP already (per Beacons.RangeEstimate),
so we take 10·log10(power_mw), split against a default 30 dBi dish,
and clamp the TX power to a 0 dBm floor so very-low-EIRP beacons
produce a sane gain/power split instead of -10 dBm outputs.
Examples:
10 W EIRP (40 dBm) → 30 dBi dish + 10 dBm TX
100 W EIRP (50 dBm) → 30 dBi dish + 20 dBm TX
100 mW EIRP (20 dBm) → 20 dBi + 0 dBm (clamped)
Add a "Forgot your password?" flow off the login page. A 24-hour
reset_password token is emailed on request, the landing page lets the
user pick a new password, and all other tokens for the user are
revoked on success.
The request endpoint returns the same flash regardless of whether the
email matches a user so that attackers can't enumerate accounts.
Previously the map loaded the latest cached valid_time from GridCache,
which can be any +Nh forecast hour the worker has written while walking
f00-f18. Users expect to see current conditions on load, not a forecast
that's ~11 hours out.
Implements the subset of the isitagentready.com checklist that maps to
real capabilities of this site:
- RFC 8288 Link headers on every browser response advertising
service-doc (/algo), about, privacy-policy, and sitemap.
- Markdown-for-Agents content negotiation: requests with
Accept: text/markdown for / or /algo return real markdown
(curated summary + verbatim algo.md) with x-markdown-tokens hint.
Other paths still 406 — no synthesizing markdown from LiveView HTML.

The detail page was hard-coding GHz formatting, so 50/144/222/432/902
rendered as 0.1/0.4/0.9 GHz instead of the MHz labels every amateur
operator actually uses. Switch to MHz when band < 1000, keep GHz for
microwave bands.
Also surface band and mode in the header subtitle so the key QSO
metadata is visible before SRTM/terrain enrichment completes (the
elevation-profile block that previously rendered them is gated on
that enrichment).
